About Glo
Social impact

What does it mean to be a Glo Supporter?

Glo Supporters are enthusiastic about our mission to end extreme poverty using a stablecoin, and want to help us movement-build.

At minimum, becoming a Glo Supporter means:

  • Signing up here
  • Being listed on our home page alongside other Glo Supporters
  • Receiving occasional updates and announcements

It also means:

  • You’ll post on social media
  • You’ll tell your friends about us
  • You’ll hold some Glo Dollar
  • You’ll join our Discord server and follow us on Twitter

We know where we're going (read: the end of extreme poverty), and how to get there (read: mass adoption of Glo Dollar).

Glo Dollar is a fully-backed stablecoin pegged to the dollar that exists to generate basic incomes for people living in extreme poverty.

Adoption in our early stages makes Glo visible. The more people holding Glo, the larger our market cap; the larger our market cap, the more people we lift out of extreme poverty.

We need early support to reach sufficient adoption.

Early support of Glo Dollar will make the difference

Every community starts with a single member, then a handful, then a few hundred and so on. But even the greatest communities wrestle with a cold-start problem, at least for a while.

Glo’s no different. Glo Supporters will drive the movement from 0 to 1; they’ll be the difference between success and failure.

Joining Glo's movement now > joining Glo's movement later

If you hold Glo Dollar now, you’ll make a materially greater impact on Glo’s trajectory than those who join down the road.

When Glo begins generating yield for charity, the impact will be clear: more money held in Glo means more individuals lifted out of extreme poverty. But we need momentum to get there.

By joining the movement today, you’ll contribute to Glo’s mission and you’ll help us get the ball rolling. You’ll help prove Glo’s concept, increase our reach, and ultimately enable mass adoption of Glo Dollar.

Early traction kicks off a movement that’s virtually limitless, because Glo unlocks an entirely new population of givers: anyone with any amount of savings and a desire to help end global poverty. Widespread adoption = more philanthropists in the world.

There are a number of ways to support Glo Dollar in its early days

In addition to holding Glo Dollar (any amount really helps), you can:

It bears reiterating: our earliest adopters will be the reason we achieve our mission to end extreme poverty. We hope you'll consider being one of them.

If you have any questions, or if you'd like to meet a human behind the project: emily@glodollar.org.

Note: the Glo Supporters program was formerly called the Early Adopters program.

In this program, GiveDirectly identifies impoverished African villages to give their citizens $30 per month, transferred via mobile money technology, for 3-5 years. For people living on less than $2/day this is a transformational amount.
Glo's economic model is to invest its reserve in short-term Treasury bills and give the proceeds away entirely to GiveDirectly.
